武者宏迪は日本で活動する画家である。

彼のメインの制作は１つのストーリーを12枚のキャンバスに表現する方法を採用しており、

物語の時間経過や場面転換などに効果的に表現されている。

彼自身が生まれ育った国、日本の漫画文化に裏打ちされた技法が利用されているが

特筆すべきはその内容である。彼自身が新聞記者となり、精神世界の住人と交流し、

そこで起こった出来事を記事にしていく日常だ。平穏であった彼の世界が少しずつ歪み始め、

ある未確認生物の登場により混沌としたものとなっていく。

その中で現れる人間の絆や愚かさを ポップな色調で表現されているが、

現実にも起こりうる我々へのシリアスな問いかけに感じることができる。

ところで、彼のサブの制作としてまだ知られていないモチーフがあることをご存じであろうか？

それは植物である。物語にも重要な位置付けとして登場する植物は

独特なフォルムと奇怪な生態を持つが、ここで紹介するシリーズは現実に存在する植物群である。

その植物が描かれた作品を眺めると自然から拝借したような美しい曲線を確認できる。

これは彼がまだ中学生の時代に母の影響で始めた園芸生活に起因するとみているが、

ナイーブな彼の口は閉ざされたまま。私を含めた鑑賞者は手掛かりを察するほかない。
